10 Step SEO Process
1. Research
The first step in the SEO process is understanding your company, your audience, your competitors and the keywords that your target audience uses when searching. By understanding your industry and what people are searching for, you can create content that is relevant and useful to them.
2. Select Target Keywords
The next step in the SEO process is to research the keywords that you want to target.Once you have a list of potential keywords, you will need to determine which ones are the most relevant to your business and which ones are the most popular among searchers. We use Semrush, Ahrefs, and Keywords Everywhere for keyword analysis research.
3. Analyze Your Website
Once you have a list of keywords, you will need to analyze your website to see how well it is currently optimized for those keywords. This will involve looking at things like your title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, and other on-page elements. You will also need to look at your website’s overall structure and content to see if there are any areas that need to be improved. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to see which pages of your site have issues and which pages and keywords are ranking.
4. Optimize Your Website for Speed & Technical Issues
Once you have conducted your research, it’s time to start optimizing your website for search engines. This includes things like optimizing your title tags and meta descriptions, as well as making sure your website is mobile-friendly and loads quickly.
5. Mobile Optimization
With more and more people using mobile devices to access the internet, it’s important to make sure your website is optimized for mobile. This includes things like having a responsive design that looks great on any device and ensuring that your pages load quickly on mobile devices.
6. Create Content
One of the most important aspects of SEO is creating high-quality content that is relevant to the keywords you are targeting. This content should be well-written and informative, and it should be designed to help searchers find the information they are looking for. In addition to creating new content, you may also need to optimize existing content on your website. By creating informative and engaging SEO content, you can attract more visitors to your website and improve your chances of ranking higher in the search results.
7. Build Links
Link building is the process of acquiring links from other websites back to your own. This is important because links are one of the main ranking factors for Google. The more high-quality links you have pointing to your website, the higher you will rank in the search results. There are a number of ways to build links, such as writing blog posts on other websites, directory submissions, and social media outreach.
8. Local SEO
If you have a local business, it’s important to optimize your website for local search as well. This includes claiming your listing on directories like Yelp and Google Business Profile. Local SEO is essential for businesses that want to be found by people in their area. We use Bright Local for local SEO. They have tools that show where your business is ranking geographically as well as citation builder tools that will help you increase backlinks to your website.
9. Monitor Your Progress
Once you have implemented all of the above SEO strategies, you will need to monitor your progress over time to see how well your efforts are paying off. You can do this by tracking your website’s traffic levels and search engine rankings. By tracking your progress, you can see what’s working and what needs to be improved upon.
10. Make Adjustments as Needed
As you monitor your progress over time, you may find that some of your SEO strategies are not working as well as you had hoped. If this happens, don’t be afraid to make adjustments to your tactics. Try different things and experiment until you find what works best for your business.
As with any marketing strategy, SEO is an ongoing process that requires regular adjustments and updates. As Google’s algorithm changes and new technologies are developed, certain SEO tactics may become outdated or less effective over time. That’s why it’s important to stay up-to-date on industry news and make sure you’re always implementing the latest best practices. Let us know if you need help with SEO.
